The School of International Studies at Peking University (hereinafter referred to as SIS) is inviting application for a two-year Master Program in International Relations (MIR). Students will receive intensive and rigorous training in various fields ranging from general politics, foreign affairs, to social development of contemporary China. Students are encouraged to study Mandarin in this program, but all MIR courses and theses are conducted in English. Students will be granted a master’s degree in International Relations by Peking University once all requirements are fulfilled.

Qualifications
1. Eligibility. This program is designed only for international applicants and applicants from the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan areas of China. Foreign applicants should hold valid passports issued by their countries, while applicants from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan must be permanent residents and use Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan ID to apply. All applicants shall keep their ID consistent in the whole process.
2. Prior Degree. Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from an institution of recognized standing. Applicant who has not yet graduated upon application, must get the degree before September 2019.
3. Language Proficiency. Applicants from non-English speaking background or who did not receive their bachelor’s degree from an English speaking university are required to provide valid English test certificates - IELTS 7.0 or TOEFL 107(ibt).
Required Application Materials
The referees should be professors or persons with relevant academic title. At least one of them should have knowledge of your recent academic work. The format of the recommendation letter must be original documents either in Chinese or English.
The application materials will not be returned.
Submission
Applicants should send by post or hand in personally the required documents to International Programs Officer Ms. CHEN Fang via the contact information below.Soft copy of the application documents must be sent in one PDF file in sequence to chenfang2015@pku.edu.cn.
Applicants holding identity cards from Macau, Hong Kong, or Taiwan should send the documents to the Graduate Student Affairs Office of the School of International Studies, Peking University by January 10th 2019. Please indicate MIR Program in the hard copy of application materials, as well as on the cover of application materials posted to designated office.
Application fee
400RMB, nonrefundable, paid through online payment or in cash by Yinlian bank card.
*Please note that incomplete application materials or application without application fee will not be processed.
Timetable
Applications open: October 15, 2018
Applications close: March 31, 2019 (All the application documents must be submitted before this date)
Pre-admission decisions announced: before mid- April, 2019 for International applicants; early April for Applicants from Macau, Hong Kong, or Taiwan.
Interviews (When necessary): mid- April, 2019 (Finalists will be interviewed via Skype, telephone or, in rare cases, in person)
Final admission results announced: late April, 2019 (via email)
The offers sent out: early July, 2019 (by both regular mail and email)
Program starts: early September 2019 (the exact date will be announced in the admission confirmation letter)
Tuition Fee
The tuition fee is RMB 75,000 Yuan per year. Students can pay tuition fee by semester from second year.

MIR Program provides this scholarship admission for 1-2 international applicant(s), the successful applicants will be granted 10,000-50,000RMB. Please check this scholarship application form from here.
Degree
Certified by the Degree Committee of Peking University, a Master’s Degree in law, majored in International Relations will be granted upon completion of required credits and successful defense of a Master’s thesis.
